Reigning Hope was established by Randy and Kesti Suggs to enhance the lives of people with special needs by providing therapeutic and equine programs to stimulate physical, mental and social development.
HIPPOTHERAPY Riding Classes
Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services using the unique attributes and advantages of the horse as a powerful therapeutic tool. Pairing the knowledge and skills of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy with the sights, smells, feel, and movement of the horse has proven a powerful form of therapeutic intervention for physical dysfunction, developmental delays, social emotional deficits and dysfunction, trauma recovery, sensory processing dysfunction, and communication disorders. Guided by the high standards of practice of the American Hippotherapy Association, certified OT and PT are able to utilize sensory, social, and movement aspects of the equine interactions of grooming, tacking, leading, riding, and chosen activities on a horse to work toward goals agreed upon by Therapists, patient/family, and physician. The movement of the horse is especially beneficial, as it is rhythmic and rich in multi-sensory input to organize and facilitate higher level brain function. We have the pleasure of seeing patients increase in communication, balance, coordination, strength, cognitive and executive function skills, and so much more with the dynamic equine tool. As a flower with adequate water, sun, and soil, patients blossom on the horse! We have had the privilege of partnering with an increasing number of local therapy service provider companies in Colorado Springs area to give more options to our patients for assessing insurance provisions. Movement is medicine! On the horse, brains grow and smiles happen!
Therapeutic Riding Group Classes
Riders and participants experience fun-filled therapeutic exercise and empowering freedom of movement in a rich sensory environment. Improvements in balance, strength and coordination result in increased mobility, independence and overall function. Children and adults with cerebral palsy, development delay, down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, emotional disabilities, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, hearing/vision impairments, autism, behavioral and at risk individuals can all benefit from equine programs. Each class is directed by PATH certified instruction.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of people with special needs by providing therapeutic and equine programs to stimulate physical, mental and social development.
